TEAM UP Awarded Funding to Study Primary Care-based Behavioral Health Care for Children
We are pleased to announce that TEAM UP has been approved for research funding by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study primary care-based behavioral health care for children. Led by Megan Bair-Merritt, MD, MSCE, Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Boston Medical Center (BMC) Health System, and Chris Sheldrick, PhD, Co-Director of Research & Evaluation of TEAM UP and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School, the research project will conduct comparative clinical effectiveness research to test whether fully integrated mental and behavioral health produces measurably better outcomes for children than following evidence-based clinical guidelines alone. This patient-centered research has the potential to make a significant impact on patient care and outcomes in this field. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this important study!
In this project, TEAM UP will support 12 pediatric practices, serving approximately 48,000 school-age children and adolescents and 25,000 preschool-age children, expanding TEAM UP’s reach across the nation.
The funding award to BMC has been approved pending completion of PCORI’s business and programmatic review and issuance of a formal award contract.
